Build it. Race it. Improve it.
The Track Car Project
A full-day hands-on STEM activity where every pupil designs and builds their own wooden gravity-powered car before putting it to the test on Lemmiout’s five-lane racing track. After the first races, pupils can review how their car performed, make improvements and race again.

How Does It Work?
01
Design Your Car
Pupils plan their own car design, thinking about shape, size, appearance and performance.
02
Build Your Car
Using wood and practical tools, pupils turn their design into a working gravity-powered car.
03
Race It
Cars are raced head-to-head on Lemmiout’s five-lane gravity track.
04
Improve & Race Again
Pupils review the results, make changes to their car and test whether those improvements make a difference.
Gravity
Explore how gravity powers the cars down the track.
Aerodynamics
Explore how the shape of the car may affect movement and speed.
STEM Through Racing
Turn scientific ideas into something pupils can build, test and see in action.
Friction
Understand how resistance can affect speed and performance.
Measurement & Accuracy
Use careful measuring and accurate construction when building the car.
Weight & Speed
Experiment with how changes in weight can influence how the car performs.
Design & Testing
Build, race, review the results, make changes and test again.
5 Lanes. Up to 10 Metres. Built for Racing.
Once the cars are complete, Lemmiout’s five-lane gravity track is set up for competitive racing. Pupils can compare their designs, see which cars perform best and put their improvements to the test.
